NEW COLOURS

THE new year started for me in new colours! For the past two years I have been proudly wearing the Malizia sailing team uniform as I worked with the team as a Sailmaker and Rigger. This Job gave me the incredible access to sail on the Imoca 60 during technical sailings, offshore training and deliveries in which I picked up valuable skills to add to my professional sailing career. The year of 2023 ended with Malizia going into the shed for a winter refit and myself thinking of my next move forward.

Late in 2023 I had decided that I wanted to build my own sailing campaign for 2024, unfortunately It was too late in the year to prepare myself for the 2024 racing season and acquire sponsorship to fund my project and knowing this I had to push my sailing campaign dream back for the 2025-26 seasons which still left me questioning what my 2024 will look like, would I stay with Malizia or would I venture off elsewhere with my end goal in mind to have my own sailing campaign for the following year..?

Early into the new year I received an offer from Oreint Express Racing Team the official Americas Cup French Challenger to join their technical team as a Sailmaker & Rigger. This was an exciting offer to work in an Americas Cup sailing as the prestigious event is known for being the pinacle of sailing and pushes the boundaries of technology within racing yachts. This will be the 37th Americas Cup raced in high tech foiling AC75 monohulls, with the event taking place in Barcelona, Spain!

In Febuary 2024 I accepted this offer as I saw it as a good opportunity to up-skill in the technical area as well as learn more about these incredible boats and technology within, plus its a rare opportunity to be involved in an Americas Cup campaign, where the best of the best are brung together from all parts of the world into a team to try win the old mug.

As I work with Oreint Express Racing Team I continue my preparations for my 2025 sailing season but for 2024 the colour is BLUE, BLUE, BLUE!!
