To kick of February in style I will be racing on board one of New Zealand’s most iconic sailing vessel’s Lion New Zealand in the south pacific”s premier superyacht regatta.. Millennium Cup.

New Zealand draws the attention to superyachts and crews not only for its beautiful cruising grounds and stunning scenery but also due to the skilled workforce and initiative marine industry. The Millennium Cup is a world class event run by New Zealand Marine Export Group and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and will take place on the waters of the Hauraki Gulf. The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and the New Zealand Sailing trust have put together a team of sailors, mostly made up of youths to sail on board Lion New Zealand

Lion New Zealand is a famous yacht designed for the 1985-85 Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race, skippered by a legend Sir Peter Blake. Lion NZ went on to finish a commendable 2nd Place in the Whitbread Around the World Race and to this day the legacy of Lion NZ continues as the NZ Sailing Trust safeguard’s the iconic yacht, ensuring it remained a symbol of maritime excellence for generations to come. Lion NZ is now used as an education center for young hearts teaching the importance of resilience, stewardship, and environmental conservation however it is still a formidable racing machine and I look forward to sailing on board this iconic yacht in The Millennium Cup.
